We are now seeking at least 57 teaching assistants for work as hourly-paid mentors for the courses TATA65 Discrete Mathematics and TATA16, TATA24, TATA31, TATA67 Linear Algebra.

Your responsibilities

A mentoring session should be more than just an extra lesson. The mentoring session should focus on group work and addressing a problem or a problem area. The mentor selects and prepares a central element or task from the course for the group to work on. It is important that this is not new to the students; they should have already attended both lectures and lessons and have had some time to work on the material covered in the mentoring session.

Your qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to a higher education program at the undergraduate or advanced level.

You should have a good grade in the course you wish to work in. Good grades in other mathematics courses within your program are an advantage.

Experience with your own successful teaching is an advantage.

It is also an advantage if you are a student at LiU.

Your workplace

You will work in the Department of Analysis and Didactics (ANDI), Mathematical Institution (MAI). Mathematics is fundamentally important for modern natural sciences and technology, but it is also a distinct field of science. Research and education at the institution cover a wide range of areas, from pure mathematics and interdisciplinary generated problems to applications in technology, natural sciences, economics, and subject didactics. ANDI conducts both interdisciplinary and applied research in various branches of analysis and mathematics didactics. About the position

As a mathematics mentor, you will be responsible for mentoring sessions, which consist of one session of 2*45 minutes per week. In total, there are 9 sessions in the courses TATA65 and TATA67, 10 sessions in TATA31, and 14 sessions in TATA16 and TATA24.

TATA65 starts directly in the zero period week 33, TATA16 and TATA24 start directly in the first half of the fall semester, TATA31 starts week 39, and TATA67 week 40.

An employment as a teaching assistant can never exceed 50 percent of a full-time position.

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
